July 26th will mark the 26th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Communities across America will be holding events for the occassion, and on Saturday, July 23rd our organization, supporters, and sponsors will honor the Anniversary by holding the 15th Annual ADA Memorial. Come run in the 5k, 10k, or walk a mile to show your support and celebrate the rights of people with disabilities, and inclusive communities.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, sex, national origin, and religion. It guarantees equal opportunity in employment, public accommodations, transportation, State and local government services, and telecommunications.
The proceeds from the ADA Memorial will benefit Access to a
Better Tomorrow, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
whose mission is to ensure Georgians with disabilities have
equal opportunities to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. ABT recognizes that recreation is essential to
happiness, and our organization provides support to the North Georgia Screamin' Eagles Power Soccer
Club. Please consider becoming a sponsor of the ADA Memorial,
or make a donation to assist the team in
purchasing new power wheelchairs for the team to increase
their competitiveness in the
U.S. Power Soccer Association.
